Virtual reality bikes launch in the UK

Incorporating virtual reality trails, tracks and games, a new range of indoor cycles is launching in the UK, with React Fitness as the distributor.

Manufactured by Interactive Fitness, the ‘Expresso HD’ bikes aim to provide a motivating, personalised cycling experience. They connect to the cloud through a service called eLive, enabling riders to save their rides, challenge their previous times via ‘ghost’ riders, and virtually compete against others from around the world on live leaderboards.

The Expresso HD product line includes the ‘Expresso HD Upright’, the ‘Expresso HD Recumbent’ and the ‘Expresso HD Youth’, designed for younger members and teenagers. Each model includes a 23” HD display, supported by a hardware system manufactured by Giada.

Motion control handlebars allow users to steer and change gears and provide the potential for active resistance, adding to the realism of the experience.

Users are able to log in and monitor their progress via computer or mobile using the ‘My Expresso’ service, while an online community allows riders to compete in monthly challenges, keep track of their workout history and earn lifetime achievements.
